Crystallized

Soundtrack-Inspired Chiptune

Crystallized is a 3-track EP I made during my first year of producing electronic music. It is heavily inspired by the soundtrack of the game Celeste, which features a lot of tracks that evolve and add instruments as you progress the story. While I had initially planned to make it an entire soundtrack for an indie game at some point, there were no open projects I could work on at the time so I decided to release it as a standalone record.

The first and title track, Crystallized, most heavily features this inspiration from Celeste, gaining it's structure mostly through the simple adding and subtracting of instruments over time. It was also the first time I really dabbled in synthesis, designing my own sounds from scratch, giving the whole track this nostalgic analog feel. To this day, and though my music may have gotten orders of magnitude more complex, it is still one of my favourite pieces I have ever written.
